Kindergarten Line Up

In kindergarten, we are learning and developing different strategies to become collaborative learners in the classroom. As a class builder, the students practiced the collaborative learning strategy called "line up". For this, students were given a category that had to focus on and work together to get themselves in the correct order. The order that we chose was rainbow order because of how colorful we were dressed in class that day. The kids used their resources in the classroom to figure out the rainbow order and talked with one another to find their correct order. They were so excited to find out that we almost had every color in the line. We have utilized this strategy with categories like birthday order, height order, and alphabetical order as a way for the students to communicate and collaborate on a class level. This is a strategy that can be built upon and developed as the kids get older to be best fit for their grade level.
