Reader's Theater

We have some pretty amazing actors here in 2nd grade! We just finished up our fiction unit in reading, that was mainly focused on fairy tales. We learned how to compare and contrast two different versions of the same story. For instance, we read the original version of The Three Little Pigs, and then compared it to a version called The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf. To finish up this unit, we decided to do a Reader's Theater project.

Students were split up into groups of about 5-10. They were then assigned a story, and a role. The stories my class practiced were called "Goldilocks and the Three Bullfrogs," "Slurping Beauty," and "Little Late Riding Hood." For about a week, students practiced their lines and practiced performing for our class. Today, we had Mrs. Bennick's 1st grade class come to watch our performances!

I am so proud of the hard work and courage it took to perform for their peers. They did an excellent job, and had lots of fun while doing it!
