In First grade we are having the opportunity to work with Mrs. Davis, the LRS for first grade across the district.
She has helped us to integrate technology into our curriculum in meaningful and purposeful ways. Working together, she helps provide students with structured learning opportunities that align with academic goals and objectives. The amount of digital tools our students are working with is amazing and making meaningful learning experiences for our First grade students.
One of my favorite takeaways from Mrs. Davis’ lessons are how the students have learned how to cope when technology isn’t working the way it is supposed to work!
She has taught us some phrases such as, “refresh is your friend,” "I can troubleshoot!" and “count to ten and try again!” I have heard my students remind friends at the table to do these things when their computers aren’t doing what they need it to do! I even saw a student the other day counting to 10 on his fingers when his internet wasn’t connecting!
We love to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills as students engage with digital media and technology tools. Our next task for our students is to learn how to appropriately comment on each other’s work. Through Seesaw, we will have students engage with others’ work and leave feedback for them to read. We love the opportunities to show first graders how to engage with technology and produce work that is digital, creative and meaningful!
