Every week, students across Goodrich participate in team building and class building activities. This week first grade participated in the teambuilder, Team Sketch. Each student was given a sheet of paper with the start of a picture on it, their job was to add to the picture to create something. Here’s the tricky part, every minute students rotated their papers around their team. So you might have had the most magnificent idea of what to create, but your teammate might have had a different idea as they continued the picture. We rotated through our teams twice to make sure plenty of details were added to the pictures. In the end, each team had 4 unique pictures that started with just a couple of lines. Some students found that their teammates continued on in the direction that they had initially thought, but others found that their teammates took their picture in a completely different direction. It was amazing to hear students discuss with one another what they had initially tried to create and what their picture ended up being. This teambuilder definitely got students to think flexibly and work together to create 4 masterpieces!
Coming up with new team and class building activities can sometimes be difficult, but luckily we as a staff use part of Monday meetings after school to learn from one another. I would like to thank Mrs. Odom and Ms. Domin for sharing this activity with our staff!
