Museum of Miniatures

If you've been following along on our creative journey, you'll remember that in December, my 3rd and 4th graders embarked on the exciting adventure of crafting their very own Thorne rooms. And let me tell you, the results are nothing short of spectacular!

We kicked things off by immersing ourselves in Marianne Moore's novel, "The Sixty-Eight Rooms," which takes place within the enchanting Throne room exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago. My students transformed into mini-architects and historians, eagerly diving into the depths of research to bring their chosen time periods to life.

Fast forward to February – drumroll, please! The students have officially put the finishing touches on their Thorne rooms, and the level of creativity is off the charts! The students concluded their meticulous designs, along with scripting audio descriptions for their rooms. Now when fellow classmates stroll through our miniature museum it will be like stepping back into history! The students were so excited to show off their work, and are looking forward to sharing it with their parents at a student-led parent/teacher conference.

Last week, our museum doors swung open for the 1st and 2nd grade classes, and, the "oohs and ahhs" echoed through the halls! The younger children were so curious about their work, asking so many questions! The students will share their miniatures to their fellow 3rd/4th grade friends on Friday.

Please take a look at our digital miniature museum below!
