#BookBento

Fourth graders recently finished Book Clubs in Reading. We worked on a creative way to wrap up what we learned about and from the book.

We started by looking at a Bento Box and talking about what we notice about this box. The students' shared ideas such as, organized, square, different sections, everything has its own place.


We then took those ideas we noticed about a Bento Box to create our own #BookBento for our Book Club books. Students already had a lot of the information needed about the book from previous lessons of discussing character traits, changes/conflicts, themes, and key events. They worked on putting all of that together and picking out the most important things that needed to be displayed so that someone who has never read the book before still has an idea of what it is about. We also talked about symbolism and how we can use certain objects to represent an important event.

We had previously read "Wonder" together as a whole class, so this was the example piece that we worked on together:
