A coupe of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the IAHPERD State Convention. IAHPERD stands for: Illinois Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
This professional conference gives me numerous tools I can bring back to my classes and use with my kids. All day long I am learning new games, activities and dances; plus learning about different resources, tools and apps that I can use. I also get the opportunity to meet P.E. teachers from across the state to add to my professional contact list. And lastly, I get the chance to collaborate with my Woodridge 68 P.E. team!
This week I have taken a bunch of those new activities that I learned at the convention and have implemented them into my classes. Many of the games require a cooperative/team building aspect and it has been so fun to watch the kids work together to complete these new tasks. A couple of the new activities we played were a PE version of the classic board game, "Operation" a fitness version of "Go Fish" and a "Zookeeper" motor game.
