Have you ever heard of Wikki Stix? They are flexible sticks made of wax coated yard that can be bent into different shapes. Because they are made of sticky wax, they easily stick to any surface, including each other without the use of glue.
My kindergarten group has been using Wikki Stix to learn to write their sight words. Students are mastering reading sight words and they are also learning how to write the words.
Wikki Stix are a great tactile tool for learning to read and write. Students trace the letters with their fingers as they say each letter in the word aloud. Tracing over letters and words helps them remember the correct shape of letters and spaces in words. The best part is they are having fun while learning.
