During our writing block, we always have time for free writing. This is the point where students can create pieces on subjects that truly matter to them. During this time so many students have turned towards collaboration. They create these complex and often funny characters, who always have an obstacle to overcome.
With the recent holiday, many students used it as inspiration for their writing. Many took their writing to the next level by creating full-blown plays while others use Canva to enhance their story. The day they shared their work turned out to be a major production that everyone in the class enjoyed.
They love sharing and having their classmates/audience interact with them. We share compliments and laughs as we get to watch everyones creativity soar.
