The Jump Rope Ninja Club is officially underway!
Several years ago I started a jump rope club that was a 1-minute, 2-minute, and 3-minute challenge. Two years ago, I made the switch to the "Jump Rope Ninja" club. The kids have always looked forward to this challenge, but the Ninja Club has more levels/challenges that has motivated the students even more.
For our warm up each day during the volleyball unit, we use our jump ropes. The students have the opportunity to work towards the next Belt, but here are the ground rules:- You must have a partner and your partner counts for you.
- You have to join the clubs in order.
- If you complete a belt, you must stop and then start over at zero for the next belt.
- If you mess up, you must start back at Zero on that belt.
- Each time you earn a belt, you get to sign your name to the corresponding poster and you collect a paper band. The kids LOVE this part!
This is something I really enjoy doing with the kids. I love hearing their goals or plans for how they are going to attack the levels. I have already seen students get past belts they didn't make it to at all last year. I am so proud of them!
