With our recent SEL day, it was the perfect time to practice working with others. What better way than with board games. Prior to starting the games, we discussed common problems that we have faced when playing games with others. As we went through a variety of different scenarios that could occur. They were given the opportunity in their teams to share what they would do in that scenario and work through how they could problem-solve on their own or if additional help was needed.
It was great to see the students put what they talked about into action. I observed multiple groups problem solve on their own when issues would arise. From creating a fair way to take turns or picking out who gets what piece from the game. They were able to communicate and use compassion to talk and work through their problems.
