Student of the Week

One way to keep the relationships in our classroom strong is to continue to celebrate each other. We start by selecting a student of the week. During the week the student that was selected gets to bring in items from home and share all about themselves. This has been a great experience for many of my students as it allows them to see what they have in common with other people in the class. The more that they can relate to and see the strengths within each other we grow stronger as a community.

The classroom community is also strengthened when they interview the student of the week and write a positive letter to them. We practice writing letters and thinking about how we can make the selected person smile and be happy.

Everyone enjoys receiving positive letters from their classmates. It makes the students who often feel shy or overlooked by their peers, during social times, feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
