This week at Goodrich, and all across the country, American Education Week was celebrated. The students and staff had an opportunity to honor all of the people that contribute to the success of our schools. Here at Goodrich, and in 5th grade, we took time out of our day to give students a chance to thank the many people that have made a difference in their education.
They began by thanking all support staff. Students wrote endless thank you letters and cards to so many staff members. "Can I write another one?" was repeated over and over again by the students. It made my heart so happy to see the students WANTING to share their appreciation for others. They also wrote cards to teachers in our school.
Not only does American Education Week honor employees of the schools, it is also a time to thank parents for their involvement in their child's education. This was probably my favorite day of the week. These kids took this job very seriously! The students are so grateful to their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings. Some of their letters brought tears to my eyes.
I always know that Goodrich is a special place, but it is weeks like this that point out just how truly wonderful the students and staff are. The relationships that are built here last far beyond the days of school.
