Music in Pre-K!

Preschoolers have been learning about music for the past 2 weeks. This week our focus was on the different types of instruments. Today we talked about how we can make music out of various items in the classroom. We also learned that different material (plastic, wood, and metal) make different sounds. Each child found something in the classroom to use as their instrument and explained to their classmates what their instrument is, what it’s made from, how they play it, and how it sounds. We then played along to a song. After the song was finished, we talked about if they found any different ways to play their instrument than the first time they played it. The last part of the activity was to journal about the instrument that they made. Students had to draw a picture and dictate a sentence about their drawing.
