Stop, Drop and Read

Reading is such an important foundation for all learning in all subjects. This year students and teachers at Goodrich School have decided to put an even larger emphasis on the love and importance of reading by implementing "Stop, Drop and Read." No matter what the children or teachers are doing, when Dr. Scaletta comes on the intercom and announces "Stop, Drop and Read," we do just that.

In specials, (art, music and P.E.), students get a little bit of a different experience. Instead of picking up their own reading book they are read to. This is such a fun and novel experience for the students. Who doesn't love being read to?

Today during our "Stop, Drop and Read" time I had Miss Warner's kindergarten class in my room. We were able to read through two and a half books. The students love sitting on the carpet and listening to the different books that I choose for them. When the time was up, they were actually a little sad that we weren't finished with our third book, so I promised them that we could finish it tomorrow:)
