Snowmen Art

Preschool students enjoyed participating in many snowmen activities after winter break! We read many snowmen stories including Snowballs by Lois Ehlert and Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Beuhner. Students created a fun art project combining both those books. Students started by choosing a color paper to either make their snowmen during the day or at night. They made their own puffy paint using glue and shaving cream and went off to work. When they were done painting they decorated their snowmen with various things just like in the book Snowballs. Students found various items around the classroom and also brought in things from home for the project.

Connecting art projects to stories we have read help students work on recalling information from text which is an important reading skill they will need when entering kindergarten!
