Gator Goals

Every year we come up with ways to help our students be recognized by others for being good students, good friends, and helping others.  Last year "Gator Goals" was created.  The idea of Gator Goals was that students could recognize their peers for good behavior by writing them a gator Goal.  Then, each week, they would be read out loud to the entire class.  Everyone in the class would get to cheer for their classmates who wrote gator Goals and had one written for them.  I was amazed by how much kids loved writing small notes to their peers as well as how excited they got to hear them read aloud each week.

At the start of the current school year I decided to continue Gator Goals.  I am never sure how excited kids will be or eager to continue something they already did for a full year.

Not only did the students at Goodrich still continue to be interested, they were more excited than last year.  I am getting more Gator Goals this year than I did at the start of school year.

Gator Goals gives kids the opportunity to recognize each other.  So often kids look for adults to give them compliments, but it is equally important for kids to recognize their peers.  I believe that it is just another reason why Goodrich has a great community feel.  Kids feels appreciated by adults and their peers each and everyday.   It also helps our students recognize our school rules which are to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible!
