In kindergarten the world of music seems so new. Each week in music class brings different experiences and brings them one step closer to understanding the elements of music. In our animal sounds lesson, we do just that!

Students are given different paper plates with the face of an animal on it. With a partner, they have to figure out what sound each animal makes and how they could make those sounds themselves, (a crowd favorite)!

Once they have mastered their sounds, the children lay them out on the floor in rows of four, (later described as measures). As they point to each picture, the students mimic the sound of each animal on a steady beat. We have now discovered that musical sounds are all around us, including the animals we see at the zoo or even in our own backyard.
