Beginning of the year jitters? Not for First grade!

The start of a new school year can bring on many emotions. Some students may feel nervous, anxious, and hopefully even excited! An important way to get rid of the worries that come with the beginning of a new school year is to get acquainted with your new classmates and friends! First grade has been working on this by participating in getting to know you activities, team building and class building. It is so fun to learn about our friends!

In our classroom we sit in table groups. In order to get to know our friends who sit at our table we created a team poster to show what interests we have in common. Hearing the excitement in each of the students’ voices really warms your heart as you see the bonds that are forming right before our eyes! Here are some examples of our fabulous team posters!

Even though we just finished the last official weekend of summer, we aren’t saying goodbye quite yet! We enjoyed some of this nice weather by getting to know each other…outside! We stood face to face with a partner and took turns answering questions about us. Some of the questions we discussed were, what is your favorite restaurant? What do you like to do on the weekends? How many people are in your family?

Now that the school year is underway, we have started an exciting journey together and we can’t wait to see each other grow academically and socially. Let’s have a great year!
