This fall weather has been gorgeous. And my intermediate students have been taking full advantage of that! We have been playing all kinds of frisbee activities, and have since moved on to soccer at all age levels.
Backing up to Frisbee... Our favorite Frisbee game is Kan Jam! This is a backyard game that many people play at BBQ's or picnics across the country with family and friends. As I do in many games, I modified the rules a little bit from the original game to work better in our 25-minute P.E. classes. But essentially it is a 2 v 2 game that requires throwing accuracy, teamwork, concentration, and just plain old fun!
We play for a certain amount of time and the rotate to our next opponent.
Here are Mrs. Weber’s rules on earning points:
• DINGER = 1 point: Redirected Hit (Deflector redirects thrown disc to hit any part of the goal.)
• DEUCE = 2 points: Direct Hit (Thrower hits the goal without help from their partner.)
• BUCKET = 3 points: Slam Dunk (Deflector redirects the disc and it lands inside the goal, either through the top or through the hole in the front.)
• HOLE = 4 points: Disc goes through hole in the front without any help from partner.
Each year the kids look forward to playing Kan Jam and they enjoy the friendly competition with their classmates. This game will resurface again this year because the kids enjoy it so much!
