As a kindergarten group we brainstormed some ideas of ways that we could help around the school. We talked about all of the garbage that we see outside at recess, and the kids were incredibly motivated to get out there and take action.
Here they are picking up garbage!
It was amazing to see how surprised the children were and how many kids never even realized how much garbage is around our school. They admitted that they never looked for it before, but now they are going to be active observers and helpers to protect our Earth.
When we got inside, we reflected on the experience and talked about why it is so important to pick up garbage and how it made us feel. These kindergartners have big hearts, that's for sure! They talked about how it is important to pick up garbage to protect the earth, save the birds and other animals, and so that there is more room to play. All of the kids felt happy, important, and helpful during the experience. Here are a few of the kids talking about it!
It was an awesome experience! We made a promise as a class to pick up garbage every day, not just today! How powerful!
