In our latest reading, writing, and social studies unit, students explored the concept of sequencing by working with timelines in both nonfiction reading and writing. They began by learning how to read and interpret timelines while researching influential figures for Black History Month.
To make this learning experience personal, students then created their own life timelines. They selected five significant events from their lives and collaborated with a grown-up at home to find pictures that represented each moment. After gathering their materials, they arranged their events in chronological order and assembled their timelines.
The excitement was contagious as students proudly shared their finished timelines with their classmates. They are thrilled to see their work displayed in the hall, showcasing their hard work and personal milestones!
