HULA HOOPS!!!
This week we started using Hula Hoops in the primary classes. And we have been having a blast!
I absolutely love teaching hula hoop - they are a great work out and so much fun! Plus, as a teacher I am literally witnessing the moments when kids FINALLY get a skill/trick they've been working on! It is such a cool thing to see.
After Hula Hoop, we will begin our Jump Rope unit. Kids have so much fun doing these skills and always ask me about where to get a hoop or a rope or... my personal favorite... a Skip It!!
SO... if you are ever looking for an inexpensive toy to entertain someone for hours that also has great health benefits, try out a Hula Hoop or Jump Rope! I have listed below a bunch of Skills/Tricks we have been doing this week that your child can practice at home!
Hula Hoop Skills/Tricks:
- Waist
- Neck
- Knees
- Ankle (Like a "Skip-It")
- 1 Arm
- 2 Arms
- 1 Finger
- 1 Hand
- Whole Body (use it as a jump rope)
- "Walk the Dog"
- "Spin it like a Coin”
