The Goodrich Climbing Wall!

We have been busy climbing this week here at Goodrich!  This amazing piece of equipment provides so many different opportunities for our students here at Goodrich - the best part is that they are literally overcoming fears, obstacles, self-doubt and so much more right in front of me and their peers.

There are so many ways to modify climbing and we are able to meet the needs of every single student.

The ones who are confident climbers have a series of "Color Climbs" to complete, and we can also add hula hoops to the wall for them to climb through!

I cannot have all the students climbing at once, so I have other stations and activities for the students to do while we take turns at the wall.  The first day of climbing for Kindergarten, they followed along with some scarf juggling challenges.

"Color Climbs"

  • Rainbow Climb = uses all the colors (all the hand holds and footholds)
  • Green & Yellow Climb = Only Using Green and Yellow Hand/Foot Holds
  • Green & Red Climb = Only Using Green and Red Hand/Foot Holds
  • Yellow & Red Climb = Only Using Red and Yellow Hand/Foot Holds
  • Green Climb = Only Using Green Hand/Foot Holds
  • Yellow Climb = Only Using Yellow Hand/Foot Holds
  • Red Climb = Only Using Red Hand/Foot Holds
