Spreading Kindness in Kindergarten

For SEL this week, Kindergarten students have been learning all about kindness. They learned that kindness means saying and doing nice things for others. Through various stories, conversations, and drawings, the students have been able to learn about and express ways they can show kindness to others.

The best time of day for Kindergarten students to practice their kindness is during recess and playtime. During recess and playtime, Kindergarten students can show kindness by sharing toys, taking turns on the swings, and including everyone in their games. They can use kind words like "please" and "thank you" and help a friend who might be feeling left out. A simple smile or asking someone to play can make others feel happy and included. If a friend falls down, they can help them up or ask if they’re okay. Saying “good job” or clapping for someone who tries their best is another way to be kind. When everyone is kind, playtime becomes more fun for everyone!
