In Mrs. Brandner’s second grade class we are beginning something new called Grammar Ninjas. Students created their own ninja craft. They will have the opportunity to earn different belts to attach to their ninja by following grammar rules. If a student is showing that they are consistently using these various skills, without needing reminders, they will be able to earn that belt to proudly attach to their ninja! In our technological society, we are seeing that second graders are understanding these grammar rules, but are forgetting to implement them into their writing. Grammar Ninjas will hopefully give them a little motivation to remember all the skills that they have been taught and working on since being in kindergarten. We can’t wait to see how many belts each student earns before the end of the year!
