One of the Kindergarten students' favorite parts of our week is playing new classbuilders. They love working together to achieve a common goal, as well as defeating the obstacles they come across. Our new favorite class builder is called "Row Your Boat".
The students have a "sail" on their heads, which is a piece of paper. They must balance the piece of paper on their head while rowing their body around the room. The goal of the classbuilder is to keep the piece of paper on your head while moving around the room. If the paper falls off, the student must freeze and wait for another boat to "float by" and pick up their "sail" paper to put it back on their head for them. All of this must be done SILENTLY! That was the hardest part, by far.
The students learned new strategies each time we played for keeping their own "sails" on their heads, as well as picking up other students' "sails" to place them back on their heads. It definitely tested our teamwork and problem-solving skills! There were many giggles and lots of smiles while playing this classbuilder.
