When SEL and science come together!

In 3rd grade, students are currently learning about balance and force in our science unit. In SEL, one of our character strengths we focused on was teamwork. Put these together, you get an exciting and fun challenge for students! Students worked with their table teams for this activity. Each table team was tasked with the challenge of building a two-story 'building' with index cards that could hold a pair of scissors at the top. The tricky part was that there was no tape or glue allowed.

At first, students were puzzled on what to do. But after discussing ideas and game plans with their team, they were ready to take this challenge on! Students had so much fun building with their teams and some even got to take the challenge another step further and build it as high as they could!
