Early Childhood/Preschool Play

The Early Childhood/Preschool program at Goodrich School is well underway this school year.

During their school day, children have the opportunity to play in a variety of centers of their choosing

every single day.  Our centers include:  art, discovery, dramatic play, manipulatives, a class library, and

a sensory table to name a few.  Play is an important part of an early learner's cognitive development.

Through their exploration, children are able to develop and strengthen a variety of skills that will continue

to follow them for the rest of their lives.  Play helps children practice important language skills, develop

confidence, build relationships, social and emotional skills, fine motor and gross motor skills as well as

many academic skills.  They learn how to problem solve, follow directions, collaborate, create and

experiment.  When children play, there is overwhelming value in the work they do as learners.

Building with blocks are great practice for math skills.

Pretend Play in perfect for practicing social skills.

I can follow directions and practice using glue bottles and glitter to make a nice picture.
