I am so excited to announce that I have had the chance to have all of your children in class by this point. I have very much enjoyed seeing all of their smiling faces and we have already had some fun getting to know each other a little better.
One of my favorite duties of the year is greeting the children as they are dropped off in the car rider line. Welcoming them in with a hug, high five or just a friendly greeting is truly the highlight of my day. Having a familiar face to say good morning to is sometimes all the encouragement they need to get into the building and get their day started.
Another thing I like to do at the beginning of the year is to play name games and get to know you games in the music classroom to help them, not only learn their classmates names, but to find out things they may have in common with their new classroom community. It is such a treat to see their faces light up when they find out they have common interests. This can help the students to make new friends and feel more a part of the group early on in the year.
Some of the games we played are pictured below. We were having so much fun that I ran out of time to take pictures of them playing, but check back to our school blog to see many more pictures and school day fun to come!
