First grade is SUCH an important and pivotal year. First grade growth is pretty amazing...if I do say so myself!
We are learning so many foundational skills that will help to build the blocks of knowledge for years to come. One of the many skills that is of such value and importance is our peer relationship development and social interactions. We spend a lot of SEL time talking about real world scenarios that a first grader will encounter. Such as, problems on the playground, what to do when we are feeling angry/upset/worried/excited etc, and how to work with others in a successful cooperative learning environment.
Today we took some time at the end of the day to play one of my favorite SEL games. This is a class builder that did exactly that! We needed some laughs and some time spent with our classmates up and
out of our seats. We played Who Am I?

There was laughter, teamwork and perseverance. Some were tough!
This was a great need for our class today and we will definitely be laughing about this tomorrow, too!
