Sports and Physical Education is a natural places where cooperative learning takes place. Students are constantly working together to achieve a goal. Plus, depending on the activity, space, equipment available, they also have to take turns. (Very big deal at the elementary level!) This requires them to follow a series of directions and to be patient when it is not their turn.
We have started the year playing a variety of cooperative games and will continue with some Team Building Stations next week. We are putting our #1 focus on WORKING TOGETHER! The students have done an incredible job helping each other out, "saving" their teammates when they are out, combining forces to move an object - you name they are doing it in such a great way!
I am so excited how the year has started off here in Goodrich PE! Can't wait for next week!
