Class Building Using Seeing Spots

Team/class building activities give students the opportunity to learn how to develop lifelong skills such as problem solving, leadership, communication, and creative thinking. It also helps students develop deeper relationships and trust amongst each other.

This week we used one of our favorite class builders, Seeing Spots, to reconnect after the long weekend. In Seeing Spots, students are given a colored spot on the back of their shirt. The goal is for students to get into the same color team only using nonverbal communication... which means absolutely no speaking! Once in their correct color team, students shared one thing they were grateful for and a goal for that day.

Students had to get creative with their nonverbal communication. I saw them pointing to items that matched the colored spot on their classmate's back, as well as them direct each other to the correct team.

When we first did Seeing Spots in our classroom, the students wanted to see how long it would take for them to find their teams. Our current record is 1 minute and 13 seconds!
