Kindergarten has transformed into engineers as we begin our science unit this trimester! Each day, we investigate new things about different forces around us. Our end goal is to build our own large pinball machines!
In the first couple of lessons, we learned all about what a force is, how we exert force, and about pushes and pulls. We explored different materials and learned how objects move. This was the foundation for building our “launcher” that will go on our pinball machines.
This past week, we started to build the structure for our pinball machines. We talked about targets that we can create for our machine and how to change the direction of where the ball goes when we use the launcher. We used tennis balls to test our force in order to define what force we need for a short distance and what force we need for a long distance.
We can’t wait to show our pinball machines to our families and explain how we created them like engineers!
