What better way to spend a part of our Friday than playing an exciting game of Team Charades! Team Charades is a game where students on a team take turns acting out a word or action while their team has to guess what they are showing them. The key part is that there is no talking allowed to describe whatever action, just movement. For first graders, this task can sometimes be hard to remember, but they were up for the challenge.
Before starting, I modeled with a group of students being my “guessers”. Modeling is important because then the students can get ideas of how to portray a certain word or action, as well as visually see how they are supposed to play. When students went to play on their own as a team, they were so excited! Students were respectfully paying attention to their team member who was acting out, and actively trying to guess what the word/action was. They had so much fun playing this together!
As they were playing, some teams came up with the idea of covering their eyes when their team member was pulling the card so they wouldn’t see!
