The Holidays in Preschool

Since we are in the middle of the holiday season here in preschool we are

learning about our classmates' holiday traditions and reading books about

gingerbread people.

Each student is working on a holiday traditions page with their families.

They are bringing them into school to share what their family does for any

holiday that they celebrate.  We are looking forward to seeing how our class

celebrates holidays in similar and different ways.

We are also reading books about different gingerbread people. We start with

the gingerbread man and move on to the gingerbread girl and gingerbread

friends.  Our class talks about what is the same in each gingerbread story

and what changes as the gingerbread girl learns from the gingerbread

man’s mistake to trust the fox.

We are really enjoying making gingerbread men out of playdough. It’s fun

to decorate them with buttons!  We have also been painting gingerbread

men in lots of colors and learning what happens when we mix two paint

colors together.

Happy holidays!
