Candy Cane Words

In first grade, we have been practicing writing our sight words in many different ways. We have practiced writing them using rainbow writing, fancy writing, and playdoh writing just to name a few. Our most recent way to write our sight words was using "ghost writing". The students write their words in white crayon and then color over their writing in marker so that their word magically appears. The students love writing their words when they are using ghost writing!

We have decided to use the idea of ghost writing to create a candy cane with our sight words from the past two weeks. Here are some pictures of the students working on their candy cane.

We then did a guided drawing of a snowman so that our snowmen can hold our candy canes. Here are some pictures of the students working on their snowman and putting the pieces together.

Our finished pieces are now hung up on the bulletin board for us to enjoy before break next week!
