Ms. Kilkenny's Pre-K class study of TREES

Ms. Kilkenny’s Pre-K class just finished up their study of Trees.  The first thing we did was learn some new vocabulary words to be able to describe Trees.  Trees are not just big or small.  We used this poem along with motor movements to help us remember our new vocabulary words.

ATREE My Size

This TREE is W I D E.

This TREE is TALL.

This TREE is thin.

This TREE  is SHORT.

Beautiful TREES

I see with my eyes.

But the one I like best,

Is exactly my size.

We explored the trees around Goodrich and found…

This TREE is W I D E

This TREE is TALL

This TREE is thin

This TREE  is SHORT

We also learned about all of the different parts of the tree and had fun exploring and sorting them in the Discovery Center.

We learned about all of the creatures that make trees their homes-birds, insects and animals.

But our favorite part was tasting all of the food that comes from trees!  We tried 3 different kinds of apples and used a bar graph top organize everyone’s favorite apple to find out which one was Ms. Kilkenny’s class favorite.

The tree unit is always a fun unit of study.
