Goodrich PE is off to a FABULOUS start!
We started off the year with some activities that are oldies but goodies! Activities that the students love where they get to work on teamwork, sportsmanship, some throwing/catching skills while getting LOTS of movement!
Last week and this week we tried NEW things!
Last week I taught the students 6 different games they can play at recess with limited equipment. The games were:
- 4-Square
- Switch
- PIG/HORSE
- Around the World
- Strikerball/Bridgeball
- Slam Ball
The students really got into the game and have even been
playing them with students from different grade levels during their recess
time.
Starting this week, I introduced another brand new unit that
I have never taught before: “Backyard Games.”
Over the course of the next week the students will be learning 6 games
that are typically seen at a family reunion, block party, picnic and/or BBQ.
The games featured are:
- Cornhole
- Bottlebee (Polish Horseshoes)
- Ladder Golf
- Bocce Ball
- Splinters
- Buckets
We discussed how typically at those kinds of outings the
Dads at the parties are always playing.
So NOW that the students know they rules, they can play along side the
dads or even kick them off the court!
