For the past few weeks, the Goodrich School community has participated in an all school reading event called One Book, One School. The book we read is called “The Lemonade War” by Jacqueline Davis.
One Book, One School is a special program because it calls for ALL Goodrich students, their families and Goodrich staff to read the same book at the same pace. Families read one chapter each night at home and the following day, classroom teachers discussed the chapter at school.

Mrs. Wojtowicz brings Lemonade War to Life |
One Book, One School was kicked off during an all school assembly on February 24th with a skit performed by Goodrich staff. Every student and staff member received a copy of the book. Spanish versions were also distributed to make sure that our Spanish speaking parents could participate in the reading program. Prior to the kick off, 6th grade students designed and created lemonade stands using PVC pipes and lightweight craft paper.
Fun activities that aligned to the book took place over the past few weeks. Examples of these activities include: class pictures with props; find the hidden lemon head; a math challenge; vocabulary words and definitions from the book were posted along the hallways for students to read as a part of a contest.
The culminating event was a celebration tonight at Goodrich School. Some of our 6th grade students planned different lemon themed activities for our families to come enjoy an evening of fun together.
