Celebrating Women's History Month

This month we are going to be looking at famous women in history. We started  by picking
someone we would like to research. I created a collection of biographies on Epic ranging in
age and race for my students to choose from. I wanted to have a diverse population of women
that were inspiring and made a major impact in some way to our society.

Many students chose people that they already knew. However there were many students who chose individuals based on their interests. I had biographies in my collection that were about women who were athletes, scientists, artists, civil rights leaders, writers, and much more. I thought it was important for the students to see women in multiple roles and to recognize the accomplishments of these amazing women.

I have many students who are still in the process of collecting information about their chosen person and creating their poster. once finished the students will share what they have learned and created with the class. I have loved hearing so many students say how they had never heard of her before but are glad they discovered her now!
