Read Across America

The National Education Association celebrates reading each year with Read Across America. This celebration takes place in schools across the country as we not only celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, but also celebrate the many and diverse readers in our community. This year our district kicked off the event by recruiting community members to read in the classrooms.

During the school day the students were encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character. The costumes were amazing and the students had fun telling about their favorite books. That day visitors from Harry Potter, Dog Man, The Princess in Black, Magic Tree House and many more graced our halls.

After enjoying a day of stories the students were in store for one more treat! The staff put on a reader's theater rendition of The Day the Crayons Quit. Each teacher was assigned a color and the students gathered to enjoy the show!

This was a fun filled day celebrating books and reading!
