'Tis the Season

Today is the day! The 3rd and 4th grade musical, December Nights, December Lights is being performed at Jefferson at 6:30 and the 5th and 6th grade chorus concert, Peace, follows them at 7:30. I can’t wait to hear these wonderful singers in their two great shows!

At the beginning of the school year, students in 5th and 6th grade have the option to join chorus. This is not a graded class and not required of any student. I have the privilege of having so many students want to join each year. This year I have 79 students in chorus!!

These students have been rehearsing songs for their holiday concert since the beginning of the year. I am always amazed at the amount of work they can get done in such a short amount of time. They only rehearse once a week for 25 minutes at a time. The other thing that amazes me about these students is that they rehearse as a grade level separately and only get to put it all together the day of the concert. They have never heard each other together before and somehow, they are still able to put on a great show every time.

The students in 3rd and 4th grade students have been working on their musical for the last seven weeks. They have gone from the beginning, where they knew nothing, to performing with incredible expression and accuracy. They had auditions for speaking and singing parts and I was so proud of how many talented and brave students I have.

All of these students have worked overwhelmingly hard and I can not wait for you to hear their talents first hand at their winter concert tonight!
