We are in the
heart of our Fall Fitness Testing. 4 out
of the 5 Health Related Fitness Components are tested in our school district
and we use 5 different fitness tests to assess these components.
Here is how they
are broken down:

What each Health
Related Fitness Component Means:
·
Aerobic Capacity: The ability to perform large muscle, high
intensity exercise for prolonged periods.
·
Muscular Strength AND Muscular
Endurance: The
ability of the muscles to exert an external force and to exert themselves
repeatedly.
·
Flexibility: The range
of motion available in a joint.
We do Fitness
Testing 2 times a year (fall and spring).
My goal for each individual student is for them to beat their previous
scores. In the spring we will actually
look at these fall scores and set personal goals for what we want to do on that
round of fitness testing.
I never compare the
students to each other – I compare Sally to Sally: what did she do last time,
what is she doing this time and what can she do in the future. Each student is different and should have a
different fitness goal.
