To “Be the Scientist”, you must apply and practice the
Scientific Method. In first grade, we practiced the first step: Make an
Observation. The kids had the opportunity to explore the world around them. We
discussed observing can be via any one of the 5 senses. The sense we used to
observe our environment was our sight.
We went out on the playground and each of us chose an object in nature. Then,
we observed an object with just our eyes. Next we took a look at the object under a
magnifying glass.
We recorded our findings just like real scientists. The
students worked well together and shared their data with each other.
