Kindergarten Kick-Off

What a wonderful way to start the school year!  Typically, the first day of kindergarten can be an overwhelming experience for students and parents. Yesterday, we kicked-off kindergarten by inviting
students and their parents to come in and explore the school together.  Our theme was "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"

As students nervously entered the classroom they had the support of their parents.  They found their nametag and listened while I read one of my favorite books, Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss.  In kindergarten, we go to many new places and it is important that the students and their parents feel comfortable making this transition into the school year.  Together they explored the school by discovering all the new places which were marked by hot air balloons.  Traveling at their own pace students were encouraged to ask any questions and talk with their parents about the various locations around the building.  This allows the school to quickly become a familiar place and gives both students and parents a little peace of mind!
