Back to the Books (and Chromebooks) in the Goodrich LRC

This year students in 1st thru 6th grade are visiting the LRC once a week for a 50 minutes class.  During that time we will be working on grade-level Chromebook skills.  Last week we reviewed our Acceptable Use Policy for our Chromebooks.  What’s the Acceptable Use Policy? It’s the rules all students are expected to follow when using their school issued Chromebook.  These are the rules we reviewed:

On my Chromebook, I will . . .

  1. Only touch or use my device and account

  2. Wait for and follow directions from the teacher

  3. Carry the device in its case or closed with both hands

  4. Take care of my device (clean, safe, and away from food and drinks)

  5. Report any problems to my teacher

  6. Charge my device every night and keep track of my charger

  7. Be polite and respectful

  8. Use appropriate language

  9. Use my device for educational purposes

  10. Not share my personal information

Please help your child follow these rules at home and bring their Chromebooks to school everyday, fully charged and ready to learn!

In addition to learning new technology skills, students will get an opportunity to check-out library books during their LRC class time.  First time check-outs began this week!  We spent some time during our LRC classes reviewing the expectations of check-out by doing an “I Have / Who Has” activity which included visuals of important places and rules in the LRC.

The number of books allowed was also reviewed and varies slightly by grade level.

  • 1st - 2nd Grade - 2 books (1 fiction and 1 non-fiction)

  • 3rd - 6th grade - 3 books (1 fiction, 1 non-fiction, and one free choice)

Ask your child what books they checked out this week!  We would also appreciate your help at home to keep library books safe, cared for and returned to school on time so students can check-out new books the following week.

Happy Reading! 📚
