Butterfly Life Cycle

 The kindergarteners in our small group were excited to learn about the butterfly life cycle. First they watched a video that introduced them to the life cycle vocabulary. They were amazed to watch the transformation from a caterpillar into a butterfly. 

To reinforce their learning, they completed a graphic organizer on which they drew the 4 stages of the life cycle, labeling each stage. Once it was completed, they shared what they learned with a partner, using the sequence words first, next, then and finally to explain the order and details. 

Learning about the butterfly life cycle helps children understand how living things grow and change, as well as how they adapt to change.
