Phonics Fun in Kindergarten!

Kindergarten has been hard at work learning their letters and their sounds, forming slides, and building words. In our phonics curriculum, the students start out learning a few letters, how to form these letters and the sounds that they make. Then, students form a two-letter slide, followed by taking that slide and making it into a CVC word.

We practiced our letters and sounds by using whiteboards, playdoh, and even puppets. Through using our letter puppets, the students did a little Quiz-Quiz-Trade where they asked their partner what their letter and sound was and traded when both students had a turn to quiz. The students were even able to challenge their partners by asking them for another word that began with that letter!

We are well on our way to learning to read and write!
