Creating Rhythmic Understanding With Engagement and Fun!

Building engagement in the classroom is so important to ensure understanding of each concept, and the music room is no exception. Students in the music room have been hard at work on rhythms in different meters and with different activities to help build understanding through engagement. Each grade level adds a level of rhythmic understanding each year and while it is a lot of work to make so many different activities for them to complete, it is well worth it in the end to see them really get it!

Below you will see several pictures and a video of the children doing these activities. Most of the time you can see how much fun they are having while learning a new concept and solidifying their understanding along the way. It is also amazing to hear them cheer each other on and coach each other when their partner or teammate doesn't get something right away and then they finally do. They cheer and smile and high five and it makes that student feel safe and accepted among their classmates and know that there is always someone rooting for them and helping them become successful.

Enjoy!
